Graduated in Business Organisation and Administration from the Catholic University (1975 – 1980) and postgraduate qualifications in various management and financial areas.

He has been a chartered accountant since 1987, a profession he practised as an individual until 2002, when he founded the company L. Bastos, Sousa Góis e Associados, SROC, later called Kreston & Associados – SROC.
